Melissa is a really good friend from college. She and one of her friend from Hilton Head(where she lives now) came to the city for 5 days to see me and another girl Dee. So a really cool thing: Almost a year ago Melissa told me about a girl named Dee who she knew from HH that had moved to NYC for graduate school. Every time we would talk she would tell me that Dee and I needed to get together. Well it never happened until about 2 months ago when Dee e-mailed me. We had never talked or met until then. Come to find out we go to the same service at Redeemer, work out at the same gym and live 4 blocks apart! In case you are wondering, in a city of 10+ million people that is CRAZY!
Dee now comes to my fellowship group and we have become fast friends! It was so fun to have Melissa here and for all of us to hang out!
Friday we used Dee's student ID to get rush tickets to Chicago on Broadway(Rush = cheap tickets)
Melissa and I were so excited that we did a little jumping for joy...
If you are a big fan of M&M's you should make a little trip to Time Square for a little M&M store action. It's a fun store, but a little too much M&M for me.
Every time my dad comes to NYC he ask me if I will take him there....and every time my answer is no
(I mean you go once and that is enough. haha) but we wanted our guests to experience it for themselves!
Before the show I took Melissa to a tourist hot spot...Ellen's Stardust Diner. All the servers are broadway singers who are in between shows, so they sing and dance for you while you eat. It's a fun little tourist spot in Time Square
Prince Street is one of my favorite streets in NYC because you can get amazing jewelry(and other things) for cheap...
I don't have a picture of this, but on Saturday night we took Melissa on the Staten Island Ferry, so she could see the Statue of Liberty and City Skyline at night. It was so beautiful. Sidenote: The Staten Island Ferry is free and gives you a GREAT view of lady liberty and the city. Definitely the way to go instead of paying for those expensive ferries. According to the homeless man we rode beside on our way down "It's the only thing in New York that's free and it won't stay free for long" haha. We then went to a super trendy restaurant downtown for dinner...so fun!
On Sunday night after church we went to my favorite UWS spot...Cafe Lalo. I've mentioned before, but I just love this place. It didn't let me down this time either:-)
It was a great weekend! Thanks Melissa for coming!
Round 3 of company in the month of March is gone...life is back to normal.
Who wants to come visit me next?
