In the Year of 1492 Columbus Sailed the Ocean Blue
In the year of 2010 I celebrated Columbus by walking tip to tip the Island of Manhattan
It's been on my "NYC Bucket List" for awhile now. It was a beautiful day and a holiday from work, so what better way to spend it than to walk the length of the beautiful island I live on. My good friend Amy joined me and together we walked. Because we did a little zig-zagging we think we probably walked a total of about 16 miles(although tip to tip is actually about 14 miles). We started at the Harlem River and walked down to the Hudson River. We were staring straight at Lady Liberty when we were done. It was so fun to experience the very diverse neighborhoods of Manhattan. It's funny to me that such a small island can contain sooooo much diversity. I love that about the city.
Oh and random fact about the city:
In 2008 it was recorded that NYC had 71, 201 residents living per square mile. And that was 2 years ago. So that's why I feel so crowded all the time. Thank you Wikipedia for helping validate my feelings of having absolutely no personal space in this city.
