The Christmas Stars light up to the beat of the Christmas music at Columbus Circle
The Christmas Carolers sing as eager shoppers walk through the Christmas markets around the city |
The buildings are decorated all festive for the holidays |
and the tree at Rockefeller Center stands tall with shimmers of color sparkling the sky.
I don't mean to sound cheesy, but I love the magic of Christmas time in New York CIty. It is hard to not get in the holiday spirit when light are everywhere, buildings are decorated, Christmas tree stands line the streets, Christmas music is playing in the background, and even subway performers prepare their own holiday medleys for your commuting pleasure. There are times when I am out in the city bundled up on a cold night with these things going on around me and I almost feel like I am walking in a movie (you know those cheesy hallmark movies we all get sucked in to this time of year) I know my life is far from a hallmark movie, but for a few split seconds it really feels that way. I love the magical feeling that life in the city brings this time of year. I will have a rude awakening when I get back from my 2.5 week vacation in January and the magic is gone. The lights will have disappeared, the tree at Rockefeller Center is carried away, the Christmas tree stands are packed up, and the subway performers are singing the winter blues. The only thing that will be left is the cold cold weather. And let's be honest......I'm NOT a fan of the cold weather, especially in January. So for now I am going to enjoy my Christmas magic and soak it in for as long as I can.
