Saturday

On this Saturday before Easter, I am thinking about what the disciples and those around Jesus were thinking on that Saturday so many years ago.  They were waiting with so many emotions not knowing what was happening.  For the promised Savior had died.  I read a book last summer by Pete Wilson where he correlated the Saturday before Easter and the Saturdays of life.  I think about that today.  What were the disciples thinking?  Were they losing hope?  I struggle so much in the "Saturdays" but as I think about it today I am so thankful that tomorrow is coming.  And that in the Saturdays we can always think of what happens tomorrow.  That Jesus is alive and real and we can have all hope in him.  That He will fulfill his promise for me.
"My hope is based on a powerful, in-control God who can do and will do the impossible. My hope is based on a God who has defeated death itself." - Pete Wilson

It is Finished - Hark the Voice of Love and Mercy
Hark! the voice of love and mercy
sounds aloud from Calvary;
see, it rends the rocks asunder,
shakes the earth, and veils the sky:
'It is finished! 'It is finished!'
hear the dying Savior cry.

'It is finished! O what pleasure
do the wondrous words afford!
heavenly blessings without measure
flow to us from Christ the Lord:
'It is finished! 'It is finished!'
saints the dying words record.

Finished all the types and shadows
of the law that went before,
Finished all that God had promised;
death and hell no more shall awe;
'It is finished! 'It is finished!'
Saints, from hence your comfort draw.

Tune your harps anew, ye seraphs,
Join to sing the pleasing theme,
his great finished work proclaim;
Saints on earth and all in heaven
Join to praise Immanuel's name:
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Glory to the bleeding Lamb!
