Our last days in Cape Town

Saturday was our last full day in Cape Town.  It was a busy one, but another great day!
We spent the entire day at Point Community doing outreach and helping do some things around the church.
A few of us helped finish painting the nursery.  Two women in the church are expecting babies, which means Point Community will have their first children in the church!
Jaques and some other members decided to surprise these 2 women with a very adorable nursery/mother's room.
Most of the work was done(there are some amazing artists at Point), but we added some finishing touches!

After finished the painting, we moved the furniture in and added a few toys. The big reveal was the next morning at Church.  I think the women LOVED it!
We also worked on Christmas shoe boxes for kids at Arise.  We each brought 1 bag of donated toys and suplies from NYC. It was so great to be able to pack up these boxes for children in need.

We also spent the afternoon prepping for a big evangelistic event that Point Community was hosting as well as going out in the neighborhood to talk to people and  share Christ with them. Doing outreach is always intimidating, but I think our team really learned so much from it and prayerfully we planted some seeds!

After the day at Point Community we had a time of debrief and prayer as a team.  It was a sweet time of sharing the things we had learned and specific ways the Lord had used this trip to impact our lives.  At the end we prayed for our re-entry back to life in NYC, as well as for Point Community and the work being done in and through this church.
We also gave Jacques some fun NYC souveneirs to remember us by!
And since Lea was a honorary member of our team much of the week, we gave her a few fun souveniers!
Sunday was a special day for our team as we had the opportunity to lead most of the service.  It was so cool to have our team members use their gifts in the service.  David led the order of worship.  Scott, Harrison, Jeff, and Amy led worship.  Jeff and Lindy did the offortory piece.  Erin did prayers for the people.  Joanna read scripture.  And Ricky gave his testimony.  The only part our team did not do was the sermon, which Jacques preached!  It was a great sermon. It was a really rich worship service.

After the church service, we had our final time of fellowship and lunch with Point Community!

One of the fellowship groups at Redeemer donated a bunch of Tim's books to bring to Pont.  We layed them out for people to grab.  you can never have too many of TK's books!
This is Point Community's prayer board.  If you look on the bottom left, Redeemer is on the board.  This meant a lot to us that the community of Point had been praying for our team for so many months!
My fellowship group girls with a random person.  I have no idea who this guy is, but he came to church and wanted to be in our picture.:-)

After our lunch and good-byes it was time to pack up the cumbies and head to the airport.  We really enjoyed being with Point Community all week.  It was hard to say good-bye and leave the people and scenery of Cape Town!
