Starting Somewhere

I feel overwhelmed by the 1000+ pictures I took during my 2 week stay in Cape Town.  I will get to organizing them, but until then I stole a few pictures from one of my teammates, Adriana.  Let me first just say that this week was beyond rough for me.  I don't know if it was the extreme jet lag, being a little sick, or just getting back to the reality of life (thinking it was a combo of all 3), but I could barely keep my head above water.  All that to say, I wanted to begin my updates days ago. Oh well!
I will also say that these pictures are complete randomness.  I will post some for real pictures and updates soon, but until then enjoy the craziness and beauty!

Ok first things first:  We all took 2 big pieces of luggage with us.  one bag of personal stuff and 1 bag of donations.  Amy, Dria, and I went 5 days earlier than the rest of the team (more on that later) and between us we had 6 large suitcases and 3 carry-ons.  Somehow we thought we could fit all this in one cab to get to JFK.  I'm not sure i've ever been so squished in my life.  3 people in the backseat, plus 2 suitcases on the floor, and one across our laps.....not including the cab driver in the front with more luggage and a trunk full of luggage! It was the longest 45 minute taxi ride of my life, but definitely caused some great laughs and memories!
Feeling good before our 16 hour flight!
Being ridiculous with Dria's hurt ankle ( the ankle did cause us to experience a South African hospital....and it was nice!)
The Sunsets of Cape Town were beautiful.  This picture does not capture it, but oh how they were amazing.
Meet my crazy team at the top of Table Mountain (minus the 3 who didn't make it up)
Enjoying the beach!  Did I mention it was summer there.....and beautiful???
We took a day trip to Cape of Good Hope before the team arrived.  It was indescribable  beauty.  I will do a whole other post on this!
This picture makes me laugh!  No, Kara did not fall off the cliff, but it looks like she might.  Pictured below: Jacques (pastor of Point Community), Ricky, Kara, and myself.
If you want to check out a snippet of our trip from the pastor of Point Community (the church we partnered with) you should check it out HERE.  He did a great job summarizing our time there.

Tonight I am missing Jelly tots, Marcels Yogurt, the ocean, Table Mountain, the people of Point Community, the kids at Arise, and my amazing and funny teammates!

More updates to come soon!
