I know my friends are eager for me to post pics from the showers this past weekend, but before I forget I want to post the shower in Fairhope!
And before I post the shower in Fairhope, I wanted to post this picture. More for me than for anyone else. New York City has such fun books. It is such a special place that really is unique in so many ways. Ever since moving to the apple I have bought my friends who have had babies children's book about NYC or maybe an I love NY onesie. I joke that I want them to love NYC from the beginning:-) Well one day while shopping for a book for a close friend who was having a baby girl tears started to run down my face. It made me so sad that I was once again buying a book for someone else when I knew how much Cat and G wanted a baby. In that moment I decided to buy a 2nd copy of the book in faith that one day I would have a niece or nephew to give it to. I kept it on my bookshelf and continued to pray. As you all know, I was finally able to give that book to a little girl. And when I went down to Fairhope for the shower I was able to read it to her before rocking her to sleep. It was the sweetest moment ever.
I write that because it is another reminder to me of God's faithfulness. I have moments when my heart is saddened by my desires wondering if the Lord will ever answer. I pray and I wait and I want to remember these moments like the New York City book. I want to have hope like I did that day in the bookstore beleiving that one day The Lord will answer and there will be moments of joy like that sweet night in the rocking chair!
And now moving on to the shower for Catherine and Mary Blake!
My moms sweet friends threw this shower, but unfortunately I don't think any of us took a picture of all the hostesses
It was a fun morning of eating good food, seeing old friends, and celebrating the Blakester.
Everyone wa asked to bring a book for Mary Blake's library. She got some great books!
Can you tell which one I brought?:-)
Catherine was showered with gift cards and got some wonderful gifts, including this handmade baby quilt my mom made.
Mary Blake was passed around all morning and had her picture made more times that anyone could count, but she was such a trooper. She just went with it and enjoyed all the attention!
2 of my mom's really close friends, Ms. Peggy and Ms. T
2 of Catherine's best friends from college were able to drive down, Bethany and April.
Laura is my "oldest" friend.....in that we have been friends from the beginning of our little lives. It was so fun to get to spend time with her all weekend and have her and her mom, also a dear friend of our family, come to the shower.
After the shower I had to hop on a plane to book it back to the city in time for work on Sunday. Even though it was a fast trip, I am glad I was able to be there for the celebration!
