The 2nd week of July is always a big week for Redeemer Children's Ministry.
It's also one of my favorite weeks of the year.
Although Vacation Bible School is a lot of prep and a lot of work, I love seeing our kids so excited to learn about the Lord. This years theme was Sky with a biblical focus on Trusting God in all things.
I think more than any other year, the Lord used this week to teach me deeper truths of him. It's funny how curriculum that is geared for young children can be so challenging for adults. I needed this theme. I needed to be reminded that no matter what i've done, no matter how I feel I need to trust the Lord. That with HIM everything is possible.
With the decentralizing of Redeemer congregations, a new building, several new staff, and the decision to include more parents throughout the week this VBS was bigger than ever. It was aweseome. And my favorite part was that a different Redeemer pastor was a part of the closing assembly each day. The pastors did a great job and the kids loved seeing them in such a silly role. David Bisgrove (the west side lead pastor) represented well on his day!
My roommate, Perryn, was in charge of crafts and made this awesome photo booth for the kids. It was only right that some of the CM staff try it out
Although I am always thankful when VBS is over, I do love this week with our Redeemer kids. I taught music to our 3 year olds this year and was continually reminded throughout the week what a priviledge it is to invest in the hearts of these little New Yorkers.
