Before You I Kneel

Yesterday Keith and Krysten Getty came and did a mini concert for the Redeemer staff.  It was really worshipful and really great!  The fiddle player from Mumford and Sons even came and played with them.....which was awesome!

One of the songs we sang together really hit me.  It's called "Before You I Kneel (A Workers Prayer)".  This has been a really intense month of work and also a month where I've really been wrestling with my calling in NYC.

The first stanza alone I feel like I need to keep close "Before you I kneel, my Mastor and Maker, To offer the work of my hands. For this is the day You've given your servant; I will rejoice and be glad"

The Lord has been affirming in my heart lately that one of the big reasons He still has me in NYC is for the role of my job.  With that affirmation I know He is using me and I know that He is going to take care of me.  I really want to be faithful in my job and rejoice that He has called me to this job today.  I feel like I need to read these words each day knowing that when He calls us to something He will equip us for the tasks ahead.

Before You I kneel, my Master and MakerTo offer the work of my hands.
For this is the day You’ve given You’re servant;
I will rejoice and be glad
For the strength I have to live and breathe;
For each skill Your grace has given me;
For the needs and opportunities
That will glorify You great Name.

Before You I kneel and ask for Your goodness
To cover the work of my hands.
For patience and peace to shape all my labor,
Your grace for thorns in my path.
Flow within me like a living stream,
Wear away the stones of pride and greed
‘till Your ways are dwelling deep in me
And a harvest of life is grown.

Before You we kneel, Our Master and Maker;
Establish the work of our hands.
And order our steps to seek first Your kingdom
In every small and great task.
May we live the gospel of Your grace,
Serve Your purpose in our fleeting days,
Then our lives will bring eternal praise
And all glory to Your Name.
