This past weekend I trekked it down to DC for a much anticipated girls weekend!
Katherine, Kelli, Mary Beth, and I are all friends from Campus Outreach. We all attended different schools/are different ages, but a summer in Myrtle Beach brought us together. We all were/are on staff, then all went in different directions, and now years later we are still friends!
On Friday Kelli and I went on a long walk and visited a couple memorials.
I love Kelli for many reasons, but one thing we share is our mutual love for the "Big Gulp". She saw this 7 Elevon first and literally went crazy (because it's so beautiful). I told her then that is why we are friends. We can appreciate the finer things in life, like a pretty convenient store.
I never would have guessed when Kelli and I parted ways in 2008 (we lived next door to each other for a year before she got married and moved to St Louis and I moved to NYC) that we would keep in touch, but she is one of my closest friends. She's that easy friend that just gets you, which I'm really thankful for in this season.
One of the highlights of the weekend for me was attending Capitol Hill Baptist. I've heard a lot about this church and have listened to the pastor for years so it was awesome to get to worship there. It is so cool to see this church and the people who are living for Jesus and making a difference in such a powerful city.
Katherine is 8 months pregnant so when it was time to go to the musem (American History) the girl needed a ride. She was a trooper though!
It's still so weird for me to be in that season of life where my friends are all having babies. I still can't believe my crazy friend Katherine who I've basically gone through the last decade of life with is going to be a mom! My favorite thing about my friendship with Katherine is that we've never lived in the same place. We've been friends for 9 years, talked on the phone at least once a week, but other than our summer together we've never actually lived life together.
I've thankful for these girls and their friendship.
It was so fun to see Mary Beth's world and have a weekend together with the 4 of us!
The older I get the more I appreciate these deep friendship. It's so hard when things feel like they are constantly changing with friends, but the Lord is faithful to remind me what a gift old friendships are and even with miles a part we can still be close.
Looking forward to the next girls weekend!
