I really do love Vacation Bible School. It's such a high for me and so fun to watch our kids learn and grow in their walks with God. Funny enough, there is a VBS curriculum out there that is based around NYC. Unlike every other church in America doing this curriculum, we actually do live in NYC and so we are adapting the curriculum to fit our church (you know...b/c all the things that make NYC cool to kids around the world is actually just daily life for them!). We are using our Children's Ministry Vision statement "The Gospel, A City, For Generations" and taking a part what this really means. It is such a cool opportunity to teach our kids not only the Gospel for themselves, but casting a vision of their role in this enormous city.
You might remember that last year I did 3 VBS's. This year my boss helped me nix that "I can do it all" mentality and we are just sticking to 1 good ole week of VBS. Although I had a blast year, I am just a tiny bit thankful to not be repeating the whirlwind again.
And so this week I am going to soak up every moment with our sweet kids......even if it is 98 degrees and the church we are renting has limited AC. Because this is what my job is about. I love that I get paid to invest in the hearts of these little New Yorker's. What a privilege it is to watch the next generation be molded, prayerfully in to life long followers of Jesus.

LOVE the shirts...good job. I really miss being a part of a VBS. Those children are blessed to have you and the rest of the team investing in their lives.
