Mr. Constant

In my life there is always change.  Between living life in NYC and being in my 20's I feel like I am constantly experiencing changes in my life.  Maybe this is normal for everyone, but sometimes I wish I just had a little more consistency in my life.  I think this is why I have had so much attraction to Mr. Constant.  Meet Mr Constant
You have heard me talk about him before as I nicknamed him Mr. Constant awhile back.  You might think "what a funny name"  but really it fits just great.  You see in the midst of so much change and people coming in and out of my life, Mr. Constant has always been there.  From the first time I listened to him play until now he has stood in the same spot in Central Park.  Everyday! All Day! Just Him and his old Saxophone.  And the truth is, I love it.  I love the familiarity of knowing he is going to be there.  I love that he waves to the little children when they pass by, yet never missing a beat on his instrument while doing so.  I love that he can play just about anything and if you ask, he will play any special tune for you. I love his quiet and reserved spirit.  I love that he is a constant for me as I walk through the park.
And so when my photography instructor encouraged us to do a documentary photography piece for our exhibit I knew exactly what I wanted to do!  Thankfully quiet Mr. Constant agreed.  He told me that he has been playing in the same spot every day since 1993. I told him I called him Mr. Constant and he just gave me a sweet smile.  I actually have 4 photographs of him in the different seasons that I am going to frame and give to him as a gift to thank him for letting me take so many photographs of him.
Tonight I will show my work at my Photography exhibition and display Mr. Constant for my classmates and friends to see.
I am thankful for a tiny (maybe silly) "constant" in my life right now

P.S.  Is it weird that I have a secret dream of dancing with my husband (if God calls me to be a wife) in Central Park to Mr. Constant playing the saxophone?
I know. Probably won't happen, but I guess girl can dream right.

Bethany, I hopped over to your blog from the Carson's blog and I just wanted to say that I LOVE this post. It's beautiful. I'm pretty sure I saw this guy in CP last December! And I think it's a fabulous hope to dance with your future husband to Mr. Constant's music one day! :)
