The Thursday and Friday before the team arrived was very relaxing. Amy, Dria, and I spent a good portion of the two days relaxing at the beautiful beach in Camps Bay!
We had lots of entertainment. These guys reminded me of all the street performers in NYC that I try to ignore. Somehow it's more fun watching the performance when you are the tourist:-)
We also made lots of friends! Meet Frank...
Frank was one of the many people who walked up to us to sell us something (you know, artwork, jewelry, etc) We were easy targets I admit. Anyways, we had good conversations with many of them and Frank and I became friends. We went to Camps Bay for one reason or another several times during our 2 week stay and each time Frank found me. It made me laugh how many times I ran in to him. He was a sweet little friend in Cape Town!
on Thursday night we followed my friend Maggie's recommendation again and drove to Franschhoek, a small French winelands town outside of Cape Town.
As we were driving out of the city, Table Mountain had the largest cloud ever covering the top. They call this is in Cape Town the table cloth for Table Mountain. Evidently it is common for a cloud to sit on the top like this. I thought it looked so interesting!
The Sunset was unbelievably beautiful. And again this was the only way I could take the picture. Side mirrors come in handy for photography:-)
We ate dinner at a really cute french restaurant called Le Coq. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was trendy, yet homey.
On Friday night we went down to the water front. This is a really cool area with lots of outdoor restaurants and a big mall. I (along with my sister) am totally obsessed with cotton candy. I saw some and had to buy it! I was interested if it would taste differently, but i guess cotton candy is cotton candy! I felt like I was at a fair in small town America!
And did you notice how sun burned I am in the picture? ouch! My skin hadn't seen the sun for a couple months and was quite the adjustment. Just so you know, I used much more sunscreen the rest of the trip!
Friday night we went to bed rested and relaxed and ready for our team to arrive the next day!!! Let the real mission's trip begin....
