Several years ago I remember going to a women's event at my church in SC that was all about seasons in life. They invited different women walking through different seasons to come and share about what they were learning in that season. I know that each of the women who spoke was great, but the thing I remember the most is how they talked about with each of the things they were experiencing it was a season and just as a season in weather only last for awhile so does seasons in life. It gave me hope to know that where I was would not last forever. And it didn't. I moved to NYC months later and a new season began for me.
I am in a new place in life where most of my friends are in different seasons of life than myself. It brings new challenges and new joys. But as I walk through life with these women I realize more and more that no season is without suffering. With each season there is joy and there are challenges. But with each seaon comes change. We can all spend each moment either soaking up a season or wishing it to pass, sometimes a little of both. I am learning how to drink deeply from the season I am in to learn all that I can and to make the most of where the Lord has called me.
As I walk through life with others I want to encourage them to do the same. And in the hard moments when we all want to cry out for a different season, to remember that we will survive. And one day a new season will be upon us and with that we will experience new joys and new struggles.
Until that day when the seasons end and we live the eternal season with our Father in Heaven......
"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven" Ecclesiastes 3:1
