I am obviously so behind in blogging, but I did want to post about the rest of my vacation!
So after all our Minnesota family left the mountains I packed up and drove to Myrtle Beach, SC to spend a few days with my friend Amy. Corey is a helicopter pilot and had a job there for the summer. It was really fun to spend a few days at the beach and get some quality time with Amy.
I spent lots of time with my feet in the sand!
I can't say Myrtle Beach is my favorite beach (let's be honest....it's an interesting place:)) but it's the beach....and I love the beach!
One night we took a helicopter ride with Corey. It was so cool and a little scary (he loved taking some dips and making Amy and me scream:-))
We went around sunset so it was beautiful!
I lived in Myrtle Beach for several summers while I was involved in CO. One of the places I worked was Johnny Rockets so I dragged Amy there to have a little walk down memory lane! Not so surprisingly it hasn't changed a bit!
So Broadway at the Beach has this new speed boat that goes in the little lake that runs throughout the center. Because I love boats and I thought this one looked cool I talked Corey into going with me on a ride. All we could think about while we were riding is how nasty the water was that was being splashed all over us (if you've been there you've seen those big disgusting fish that swim throughout and let's be honest the water is just not that clean)
It was a quiet and restful few days in the Myrtle with the newlyeds! Unfortunatley that was really the end of the fun part of my vaca. I ended up coming home not feeling so great and only got sicker from there. I pretty much spent the next few days in the bed and really only left my parents house to go to the doctor. I even canceled going jet skiing with my dad......which if you know me you know I must have been really sick to give up a watersport activity. It's hard to let go of plans, but at the same time I think the Lord was telling me I needed to rest. I guess if I had to be sick It was pretty nice to be in the mountains and to have my parents there to take care of me (which I think my mom secretly loved) and have this view to look out on!
This was the longest vacation I've taken since being in the city. At the time I worried about being away from work for so long, but looking back I realize it's nice to have a chunk of time away. I was able to really rest and let go of everything. Vacations are needed and I'm thankful I was able to take this time away
