This blog has definitely gotten neglected the past month. So much is going on that it's hard to sit down and think about writing anything. But I did want to remember my two weeks of vacation that I had in August. 2 weeks of rest, sun, family, friends, beautiful scenery, and sickness. Yes, I got very sick my 2nd week of vaca. I think God was telling me to slow down and rest:-)
So here goes week 1 of vacation.....
I don't have pictures of the first few days, but I flew in to Charlotte and got to spend time with my college roomie and close friend Emily and her husband Dave. It was my first time to hang out with them since they got married! It was so fun to see their world and have a good catch up! After leaving there I spent a quick night at home before heading to Greenville for another friend's wedding. It was a short visit, but fun to see so many of my Campus Outreach friends! After Greenville I headed back to the mountains to spend the week with family!
This one came to town first......
On Sunday my dad's brother and his kids/grandkids came all the way from Minnesota for a week in the mountains. It was the first time we were all gathered together (minus a few family members! Doug,Jen and kids just moved to Uganda and Kimberly had to start school. we missed you guys!!) in a few years. Crazy how fast time passes without seeing each other.
We spent the week hanging out, enjoying my parents beautiful mountain view, hiking, eating good food, playing games, and just being together!
We hiked to the falls at Ridge Haven
We went out for Mexican food to celebrate my cousin Krista's birthday
We enjoyed the beautiful evenings on the deck
The guys played golf one day
While the girls and little kids went to downtown Brevard to shop and eat at Rockys Soda Shop
One night we went downtown to the street dance
We all did our share of dancing and enjoyed the small town evening
One day it rained, so the adult cousins left all 6 kids at home with the grandparents and went out to lunch
And we all went bowling
We had fun playing with these 6 cute kids! The last time we were all gathered together in the mountains no one was married and there were no kids. Years later we gather again in NC and 4 of the cousins are married and there are 8 kids. Crazy how much can happen in a few years!
MB fell in love with her Minnesota cousins
The two brothers and their wives
We took a day trip one day and hiked to high falls
The scenery was breathtaking!
Before we knew it the week came to an end and it was time for everyone to disperse!
Thank you Minnesota Griffiths for making the long trek to NC!
It was a fun week of family time and vacation!
