Last night I had the opportunity to go to the NYC Premier of the movie "Son of God".
Although I'm sure different people could argue about how accurate this movie actually is, I personally was deeply moved and inspired by this film.
The Crucifixion scene alone I can't stop thinking about. It was one of the most graphic and disturbing scenes and all I could think is, "He did this for me. Jesus went through this for me." I know that millions of people are going to see this movie and have many different opions, but as Mark Burnett said after the film was over "you can't help but feel something" and prayerfully that "something" will inspire people to open a bible, ask quetions, attend a church service. This movie is a movie, so it definitely does not cover everything and it defintiely crunches some things together, but it is a story of Jesus' life and it focuses on the fact that Jesus is the "the way the truth and the life".
Today as I've been going throughout my day doing normal tasks I can't help but think about the scenes of the movie and be incredibly thankful for a Savior who died for me. When Jesus on the cross says "forgive them for they know not what they do" I can't help but be overwhelmed by the grace and mercy that Jesus Christ offers, that in the depth of our sin he loves us. He loved them then and he loves me now.
My prayer for this movie is that people would watch it and be intrigued to learn more about this Jesus and that as people learn about Jesus their hearts would be open to trusting in Him as their Lord and Savior and following Him with their life.
I know for me I can't imagine my life without Jesus. I don't think I would have made it through all the ups and downs these last few years without having the hope that is found in him alone. Watching this movie last night made me so thankful that He chose me. That I can call myself his daughter and live forever with him.
I don't know much about Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, but I felt so priviledged to hear them speak last night, to hear their heart behind this movie, and their prayer for how they want it to be used. It is encouraging to see this incredibly famous and wealthy Hollywood couple seeking to make a difference for Jesus in our world today.
It was such a fun night out with friends.
Thanks Hannah for the invite!
