Thursday Thoughts

1) I just finished 2 incredible books that have challenged my socks off.  Radical by David Platt and Living into Community by Christine Pohl.  I would highly recommend both of them.  They have really challenged me to think about how I want to live my life and how I want to pray for my life.  Both are very practical, easy reads.

2) It's still really cold in NYC and my down coat stinks.  Like really stinks.  But if I take it to get dry cleaned I'm going to be cold, so I think I might just have to stink for a few more weeks.

3) Have you heard of Warby Parker?  It's this trendy glasses brand that is somewhat like Toms.  For every eye glass pair you purchase they donate a pair of eye glasses to someone in need.  They are also really inexpensive.   Lucky for me their flagship stores happens to be in Soho so I went this week and bought a new pair of glasses.  I've worn glasses since I was 9 and I still hate them.  I mean I wear contacts most of the time, but I when I do wear glasses I just don't like it.  So i'm hoping that now that I have glasses I love I will wear them more.

4) I've had 3 close friends have babies within 3 days of each other this week. It's been crazy!  My friends seem to do things in clumps (ie: being a bridesmaid 4 times in 2 months.) It's still weird to me that so many of my friends are moms now.  Definitely a new season.

5) The other day I was walking back to my office from a quick coffee break with a friend when I stopped dead in my tracks.  Right across the street from where I was standing was an establishment that I've missed greatly since moving to the big apple.  I mean how can you not love a good "welcome to Moooooooes" and it's 2 blocks from office.  2 blocks.  I'm probably a little too excited about cheap chain mexican restaurant in a city of fancy, unique dining establishments.

6) This weekend I'm an usher in a wedding.  I've been a bridesmaid 17 times, but never an usher.  This will be a whole new wedding experience for me.

7) My friends have been urging me to watch the show Friday Night Lights for a couple years now.  As much as I've heard people talk about it I never thought I would like a show about high school football, so I resisted.  And then finally my roommates convinced me to watch 1 episode.  1 episode is all it took for me and now I.am.hooked!  I mean all I want to do is watch Friday Night Lights.  I've a person who has an incredibly busy life and is never really home and yet I've managed to watch 3 seasons in 3 weeks.  I'm not even sure how that's possible, but I feel like I live in Dillon Texas right now and I want to be best friends with Tammy Taylor.

8) I read this article on Desiring God last week and it really ministered to me.

9) I just started another photography class.  I've really taken a break with photography the past year, but it's been kind of nice to get back into it.  I feel like it's a creative outlet for me and something outside of my regular life and job.

10) I got invited to attend the premier of "Song of God" tonight and I'm so excited!  I really hope it's as good as it looks in the previews.
