I think we could all agree this has been one hard, cold, snowy winter.
As of Saturday NYC has had somewhere around 17 snow storms since December. I've really never seen snow like this before and honestly would be fine to not experience another winter like this one.
The thing about snow in NYC is that it's a MESS. They plow the streets but then all the snow ends up on the sidewalks, it freezes and creates skating rinks, the intersections become a slushy mess, the trash piles up under the snow, and in general getting around becomes much more difficult.
There is also no such thing as "snow days" here. Life goes on as usual whether we get 1 inch or 1 foot of snow.
I've really struggled to find joy in all this and the last 2 months have just been difficult. On the hardest days I try to close my eyes and imagine the Lord creating a beatiful spring under all this mess and I know that one day winter will end. It is a seaon and seasons don't last forever.
I grabbed my camera on one of the few blue sky/no snowfall days we've had this winter and snapped a few pictures as I tromped through Central Park.
I love that the snack cart guy was out selling preztels and sodas on this very cold day (I mean NYC really never slows down)
I picked up "H" and she wanted to pose for a few shots. Girl has some personality!
We're almost through February which hopefully means the worst of the winter is almost coming to a close. I seriously think New Yorkers might do a dance of joy when warmth decides to visit. But then again at this rate, we might still have snow in July.
I'll keep you updated!:-)
