September Through The Lens Of The Iphone

September was a crazy month with lots of work and lots of play.
In no particular order here are some snapshots of my month.

I spent one day at the MET museum (which has slowly become a place I love in this city) Before going inside I sat on the steps for awhile watching one of my favorite street bands perform.  It was one of those picture perfect New York Days.
I was able to visit the Gary Winogrand exhibit at the MET.  He's a documentary photographer and just really great.

We had our yearly training for our Children's Ministry volunteers.  I love spending time training our many volunteers who are investing in the hearts of so many little New Yorkers.

I had dinner with my little dinner group at Dos Cominos in Meatpacking.  I really love this group of friends and am so thankful for them.

I spent lots of time with these 3!  They are 5, 7, and 10 now and getting more fun by the moment.

I spent some time in Brooklyn Bridge Park snapping pics of the city skyline.

I watched the sunset over the Statue of Liberty.

I visited the 911 Museum.  If you are in NYC you should definitely visit this musuem. It's a lot to take in and pretty intense, but so well done.  This was the last column that was taken out of the world trade center site.

I thought it was interesting that they made a mosaic out of these tiles in the museum to symbolize the picture perfect blue sky of New York City on September 11 right before the attacks.

The new Freedom Tower which is now the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere.

I went to see Rend Collective in concert in Greenpoint.  It felt a little like a youth rally but such great music.
I had a Central Park Saturday with H and M which included pretend play in Strawberry Fields, throwing pennies in Bethesda Fountain, playing with bubbles with the bubble man, running through Poets Walk, and having ice cream! It was another one those picture perfect New York days!

Went to brunch at Freemans in the Lower East Side.  This is a well known brunch place that has been on my list for awhile, so I was excited to finally trek it down there with friends. The brunch was definitely worth it.

My friend Erica and I went to the Kelly and Michael show one Friday morning.  Although I think i've had my fill of being in the audience of morning tv shows ( i think i've hit them all) , this was was definitely a fun one to attend.  Kelly and Michael are both hilarious and great with the audience!

I met my friend Gillian for lunch at my favorite spot, Alices Tea Cup!

My friend Jean Marie and I went to see "On The Town" on Broadway. This is a great show that I would definitely recommend if you want a good NYC show to attend!

I went on a long run along the Hudson one night and captured this site.  This city really can be such a peaceful place ( a very different NYC than the picture below)

Captured this one night while walking through Time Square.  I have such a love/hate relationship with Time Square. On so many levels I really hate it. It's SO crowded and touristy and can just be really annoying, at the same time  the lights and people can be so captivating.  I always try to imagine what it would be like to be a tourist and see Time Square for the first time.  It has to be amazing and completely overwhelming!

Have tried to spend a lot of time in Central Park.  This is one of my favorite spots with one of my favorite views.  I love my neighborhood!

My team had an event for our Kindergartners one Saturday night. At the same time our building was being used for a fashion show during fashion week.  We couldn't resist snapping a photo on the red carpet.
Only in NYC will you have a Children's Ministry event and a fashion show in the same building on the same night!

We hosted the vision night for our Community Groups at my apt.  I've written about this group multiple times.  Amy and I started a CG back in fall of 2008. It's now multiplied with new leaders and lots of new girls.  I am so thankful the Lord has allowed me to be a part of this discipleship group of women for the past 6 years.
And last but not least we celebrated my friend Katherine's birthday!

I lived it up in September with lots of great moments.
I would say it was a pretty good month!
