4th of July Re-Cap

Ok This is going to be a long post with lots of pictures.  July 4th weekend my parents came to the city for a visit.  It was great having them here and we did so many fun things.
They arrived on Thursday afternoon and we immediately took off for The Boat Basin for dinner over the Hudson.  I love this place and love even more that I can walk here from my apt.  Amy joined us for the evening
If you have ever been to NYC you know that there are a bazillion restaurants and cafes. It's too bad I don't really care that much about food, but we did hit up some great places during their stay.  We did the traditional lunch at Cilantros on my 3 year anniversary (because that was the first restaurant I ate at the day I moved here).  We also dined at both Rondas and Friend of a Farmer on 2 different days for Brunch (everyone does brunch in the city on weekends) Both have fabulous brunch menues!

oh and of course we had to stop at Magnolias for some Banana Pudding
And as usual I did have just a few projects for my parents to help me with!  This time it was painting my old apt back to its original color. Oh the joys of renting your home.  Not a fun job but thankfully it was pretty painless.  I think I am going to avoid painting my living space again as long as I am renting.
On Friday morning Beyonce was performing in Central Park at the Good Morning America Summer Concert Series. I thought it would be fun to go so my dad and took a morning walk to Central Park.  Unfortunately we couldn't get in, but we did hear her perform from afar.
And on Friday night (although I do not have a single picture) we did take my dad to see the Broadway Show Wicked.  This was my 3rd time seeing it and my moms 2nd, but we LOVE this show!  I never get tired of going to Broadway and love that it is a part of my life here!

Along with going to Broadway, The Yankees were playing the Mets all weekend so we were able to hit up a game.  we had great seats and the Yankees won!!!
We took a walk in Central Park and visited a couple of my favorite spots in the park

We had bbq at Brother Jimmys after the game. You know b/c why not come to the Northeast to eat some good southern bbq?
We stayed across the street from the Dakota (where John Lennon was shot and Killed)  at some good friends of mine apt.
We took the subway all over the place
We did a boat tour on the Hudson, going through the harbor under the Brooklyn Bridge and to the Statue of Liberty
And can I just say that it is so cool to visit Lady Liberty on Independence Day.  What a way to celebrate the United State of America!
And finally we camped out on the Pier at 70th Street to watch the amazing Macy's Firework display.
A bunch of my friends joined us for the evening.  We ate yummy food, played games, talked, and waited for the big event!  One of my roommates Hannnah and I before the sun went down
It was a beautiful Sunset and a perfect night to be on the Hudson
And finally 4 hours after we arrived the amazing display began!

Pictures do not capture the beauty, but it was incredible!  This is my 4th year watching the show and every year I find it magnificent

It was a great weekend with beautiful weather and fun memories.  I am always thankful when my mom and dad can come for a visit and experience life in the big apple with me.
