A Request...
One of the things I am really thankful for here in New York City is my church. My church is a big part of my life because I am on staff there, so for many reasons I am thankful for it. I can say many things I love about Redeemer, but I can't deny that one of my favorites is having Tim Keller as pastor. I am just continually reminded as I listen to him preach what an incredible gift of preaching he has. I know it is from the Lord. He is a sinful man just like the rest of us, but the Lord has chosen to use him mightily in a very secular, diverse city. He preaches the truth in a very blunt, yet loving way. There are so many times he states the truth and I just look around the church knowing people are squirming. What I love is that the bolder he preaches the more the people come. It continues to show me that people in this city are searching. They are coming for a reason and they are hearing the gospel. I love that! So last night was no different and I just had to share! I won't go in to what the sermon was all about and why it was so impactful for me, but I just have to tell you that I was so convicted. I have been thinking about it all day today. I know that I need to listen to it again to really digest it all. Here is my request to you(whoever you are) who read this blog! Please listen tot the sermon. It is called "Good News to the Poor" and is from Isaiah 58:6-10. It about our responsibility as Christians to the poor. I feel like I am more sensitive to this continual calling as I live in the city. Once again my heart was tugged on and I was just reminded of my sin in this area of my life, yet I was once again reminded of the gospel of Jesus Christ(and why because of the gospel we are called to this) I am not going to ramble, but I really do ask you to spend the $2.50 for the download or $4.00 for the CD. I would give all of you a copy if I could, but I think I might get in a little trouble:-) You can go HERE to make the worthwhile purchase. I would love to hear your thoughts after you listen!
