This is a little late, but I have been wanting to do several blog post re-capping my surprise visit to Alabama two weeks ago. It all started when my my mom, sister, and I were talking about my dad's 60th birthday that was quickly approaching. We wanted to do something special and decided Fairhope, Alabama(where we lived for 11 years) was the perfect place to celebrate. My parents were already planning a weekend there with their friends, so we decided it would be fun for the kids to come and surprise my dad. we planned a big party and made it a whole birthday weekend! It will take several post, but I am going to share about it all!
The weekend started on Thursday when I flew in to Birmingham. My bro-in-law and I hung out while we waited for my sister to get off work. He drove me around the city and I snapped a few pictures. This was taken at a higher point in the city and shows a little of downtown Birmingham.
As soon as my sister was ready we hopped in the car and made the 4 hour trek down to LA(Lower Alabama). Meanwhile my parents were already in Fairhope, my dad expecting to have a weekend with their friends. They already had a little dinner party planned with their friends for that evening.
When we arrived to the house where my dad was we were able to sneek through the living room and walk straight up behind my dad. He was just talking away when Catherine and I stepped on either side of him and just said every so calmly said "Surprise"! You can see for yourself his reaction...
It was the beginning of a great weekend!
