A Birthday Party for Jesus

This past Saturday we had one of my favorite events of the year....A Birthday Party for Jesus.  It is a carnival type event with face painting, games, crafts, a service project focus, singing, the story of Jesus, and of course birthday cake!  I love celebrating the birth of Jesus with our Redeemer families.
We had LOTS of help from our wonderful volunteers.  Above is me with Perryn (one of our awesome CM volunteers) She and I met for the first time at Birthday party 2 years ago and have been friends ever since. Below is just a few of the many people it took to pull off this event
A few of the sweet children who came!
My friend Caroline, her husband, and baby played the part of Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus in the Christmas story that was told to the children. They were rockstars!!
Before we dive in to the cake we sing Happy Birthday to Jesus and the kids get to blow out the candles.  It is so incredibly moving to hear around 300 voices of children singing Happy Birthday to our Savior.  What a Celebration it is!!
And don't worry, the cake pictured above is what we call the "spit cake" (aka: lots of kids blowing out candles=no one eats this cake! But we have lots more for everyone to actually enjoy)
I am so thankful that putting on an event like this is part of my job!  What a privilege it is to invest in these little city kid's hearts!
May we all celebrate the birthday of our wonderful and merciful Savior, Jesus Christ during this holiday season!
