From early on at Redeemer I had a dream of starting a discipleship program for kids. Years into my time at Redeemer that dream came true when a couple moms and I sat around a table and started talking, dreaming, and praying about how we could begin such a program. In fall of 2013 what started as a dream turned into a program on Wednesday afternoons for 60+ kids (and quickly grew to 80+ kids this year) It was an area of ministry where I saw the Lord do so much more than I could ask or imagine. I watched children and parents lives being changed through community and discipleship and kids feeling known and cared for from a young age.
I personally co-led a 3rd grade girls small group(and followed them to 4th grade). It was such a joy to spend time with these girls each week and invest in their lives.
At my last KCG all the kids gifted me with a huge canvas with their handprints. It was so special and I will treasure it always. It's hanging now in my office in Birmingham.
I'm thankful that the Lord chose me to be at Redeemer at the beginning of this program. My prayer is that Kids Community Group would continue to grow and flourish in the years to come! I can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for these little New Yorkers who will grow up with KCG.
